Hailie has loved cheering for as long as I’ve known her (before I even knew her actually).  The first time I photographed Hailie was about 5 years ago.  I snapped a few pics of her and Hunter, her younger brother, after a game that he played in and she was on the sidelines cheering.  She loves cheering.  The love is strong with this one (as I type this I’m using my best Star Wars voice… and you can probably be thankful you aren’t here to listen to it.  ha!).

It was fun spending time with Hailie and her mom downtown Champaign recently for her senior session.  We roamed around finding fun pockets of light and colorful  backdrops.

This weekend, Hailie and the rest of my SLP VIP crew are gonna have a little fun.  If you wanna see what I have planned for them on Sunday afternoon, you will want to follow me on Snapchat.  SC: Sweetlemonade4u

Current juniors… If you want to join my VIP Senior crew, apply NOW and we will start photographing you as a junior sometime after the first of the year.  Apply now to get a bonus session at no additional charge.  Learn more and apply to be a part of the 2019 Senior SLP VIP crew

Sydney was my very first applicant for my SLP senior photography VIP program which means we not only spend time together photographing her ‘official’ senior session in Mahomet but several additional styled shoots and other sessions just for fun, have fun quarterly VIP gatherings and even volunteer as a group together in Champaign.    (I’m already accepting applications for 2019 VIP’s, incoming juniors, so if you’re interested you can learn more and apply here.  If you apply by November 1st, you are guaranteed a VIP spot AND get a bonus session this winter.)

I’ve known Sydney’s family for many years.  Both of her parents are kind, wonderful, friendly people so Sydney’s positive and cheery disposition comes naturally.  Her beauty goes far beyond the surface and that’s what makes it so fun to spend time with her.  I’ve watched her bring people into conversations that may have felt like they were on the outside.  I feel like she reads people well and does what she can to make them feel welcome and included.  She’s got a heart of gold and I love being able to spend time with her.

In addition to taking pics of her, we also did some family pics (I’m only sharing one of her and her younger (and 6’4″ or something) ‘baby’ brother because the rest are gonna be a surprise for their extended family.  I made a joke at the time, ‘now I want you two to hold hands and pretend like you love each other’.  Sydney’s response was, “I don’t know if I am his but he is my best friend,” and she quickly grabbed his hand showing her admiration and affection for her brother.  Ahhh as a mama to three boys myself, none of which would ever be heard saying such a statement, it made my heart so happy to hear she felt that way.  Not only FELT it but EXPRESSED it and SHOWED it.  I pray my boys will one day feel the same towards each other.

Sydney, can’t wait for the pumpkin carving and all the other fun we have in store this fall as a team.  Oh, and if you haven’t followed me yet on Snapchat, go ahead and find me…. sweetlemonade4u and you can see some behind the scenes from senior sessions (when I remember) and other stuff both business and personal.

XOXOXO,

Heather

I have had so much fun already this summer with my 2018 Sweet Lemonade Photography VIP team.  The American styled shoot with Gabrielle (Fisher High School) and Sydney (Mahomet-Seymour High School), two of my 6 senior VIPs this year was a blast.  And a special thanks Hatcher’s Cars in Mahomet for allowing us to borrow this classic car, 1968 Rambler, painted a perfect red, white and blue combination.  In addition to their typical senior session, throughout the summer we have a variety of fun styled shoots and social activities planned.

Photographing teens and seniors, is a lot of fun and this VIP program allows me to get to know these young adults even better.  If you are an incoming junior and would like to apply for the 2018-2019 Senior VIP program, you can find more details here.  It’s never too early to apply!

Enjoy these pics from the first one of several styled shoots!

And when your cousin joins you, it’s only fair she get in a few pics also. 🙂

Proms are one of the final hurrahs for seniors…  a chance to get dressed up, go with their date or a group of friends and dance the night away before they graduate and move on to college, full-time job or whatever post-college plans they have.  Prom is a chance for more memories.  More memories that will last a lifetime.

I offered complimentary prom mini sessions for my Mahomet-Seymour High School SLP seniors in April and I was thrilled the schedule worked for a few of my seniors could join me.  Because of the potential rain (that let loose shortly after we finished up) we met on the University of Illinois college campus at BIF (Business Instructional Facility).  As primarily a natural light photographer if I can’t photograph outside, finding an indoor location with lots of natural light is the second best option.  And this building with floor to ceiling windows, provides just that.

Over the course of the year, from photographing these young adults senior sessions, sporting events, prom, etc I’ve gotten to know them and feel like they are my own children.  I loved being able to ooh and ahh over the fancy dresses the girls chose and was impressed seeing the guys all spiffed up.  Morgan, Nick, Samira, Ben, I pray you follow your heart and live every day to its fullest.

XOXOXO,

Heather

Morgan’s beautiful gown was purchased from Peaches Boutique in Chicago.   Keep an eye on their website and you could score your next dress at a huge discount like Morgan did.

Watching these 4 friends together made me so happy.  May their friendship continue to grow even as they go their separate ways.

I loved having two full hours with Madison in front of my camera.  We started the afternoon with having her make-up done at my studio and after her hair was done we met up downtown Urbana moving from place to place and then worked our way out to the country.  We got such an incredible variety of images that is was hard to choose which ones to share.  But here’s just a few of my favorites.

Enjoy!

Sweetly, Heather

I absolutely love it when I can capture the real genuine smiles and laughs during a session. There is even greater satisfaction when I can get a young man to relax and let their real personality shine. Smiles are so contagious so I can’t help but smile looking at these. Try not smiling. I dare ya! 🙂

Sweetly,

Heather
